The Learning Environment

“Given a rich environment learning becomes like the air.  It’s in and around us” Sandra Dodds

Lakenham Primary School Prospectus 2013-14-7Our school opened in 2007.  Our building provides all the modern facilities you would expect of a school built for 21st century learning.   Our open plan Foundation Stage incorporates the Nursery and two Reception classes, and offers a superb indoor and outdoor learning environment, ensuring our pupils get the best possible start to their education.

All classes are centred around our large central atrium, which houses our library, group teaching areas, and opportunities for children to engage in independent research and learning.  In addition, the school has a modern spacious sports hall, drama studio and art room.

Our outdoor facilities include an extensive field, trim track, tyre trail, netball, tennis and hockey courts.  This year the school is redeveloping it’s garden to establish a new environmental garden, including a poly-tunnel and raised beds.

The school came runner up in the ICT Excellence Awards for the East of England in 2011. We have invested significantly in ICT to ensure our children have access to the most up to date teaching resources.

In Key Stage 2 every child is provided with their own mini-laptop, which they use to support their learning across all areas f the curriculum.
