Annual Governance Statement for the Governing Board of Lakenham Primary School July 2017 (1)

Message from newly elected Chair

I am both honoured and delighted to be elected as Chair of Governors at Lakenham Primary School.  It is a privilege to lead the governing body, and support the fantastic work already being done by Ms. Wilson, Ms. Roberts and their team.  Together with the contributions of the Governors, we will continue to give children at the school the most meaningful and positive educational start in life.

Glen Scott, Chair of Governors

Lakenham Leadership

Governors are delighted to announce that Ms Roberts and Ms Wilson will continue to lead the school as joint head teachers, as despite working hard, and following two rounds of Headteacher advertisements and applications, Governors have decided that the field was too weak to interview. Ms Roberts and Ms Wilson have  great commitment and knowledge of the children and school, together with their clear vision for taking the school forward, this convinced all the governors that this is the best solution to providing stability and continuity for the children’s education following the departure of Mrs Dalton at Easter. Governors are confident that the school is in very safe hands.

Vice Chair, Chris Hemmings

School Leadership for the Summer Term

I am delighted to be able to inform parents and friends of the school that when Mrs Dalton leaves Lakenham for her new post in Cambridgeshire at the end of this term, we have finalised arrangements for the school’s leadership for the summer term.

Ms Wilson and Ms Roberts will be working jointly as headteachers with Mrs Maudlin supporting them as assistant headteacher. I am very pleased that all three teachers have been willing to take on these additional responsibilities and am confident that the school will continue to flourish under the leadership of such experienced members of staff.

Over the rest of this term, together with my colleague governors, we will be making arrangements for the appointment of a permanent headteacher who we would like to be able to take up the post from September 2017. We hope to make an appointment early in the summer term and I will keep you informed when a decision has been reached.

John Chilvers (Chair of Governors)
