Lakenham County Hockey Finals Report

After winning the SSP Hockey competition at Lakenham against 11 other teams our team went forward to play in the County finals.

Robbie has written a report of the day.

The hockey tournament on Friday the 19th of November was awesome.
Robbie, Marlin, Jules, Steffen, Rebbecca and Ruby played magnificently.
Unfortunately Rebbecca badly hurt her wrist after being hit by a hockey stick, then Marlin got tripped up and really hurt his leg but left with nothing but a painful scrape.
First match. Lakenham v Pulham St Mary
0-2.
2nd match. Lakenham v Mundesley Junior
1-2.
3rd match. Lakenham v South Wooton B team
1-3.

But then it all turned around….
4th match. Lakenham v Bignold
4-1.
5th match. Lakenham v St Marthas.
3-1.
6th match. Lakenham v South Wooton A team.
1-2.

We were all very nervous, excited and determined to win something. There was a shield and  a trophy for the finalists of the two pools. We were in the final for the shield!

We were playing Sheringham.
We started playing well, Sheringham were a very good team, they had obviously spent a lot of time practising together. After about 6 mins of good attacking play by both sides sadly Sheringham scored, but we kept our chins up high when I Robbie, as goalkeeper, scored ! We were confident we could win this. Unfortunately when the whistle blew for full time, it was 1-1. Our ref told us we would play on for a golden goal (the next goal scored would decide who won). They were in our half, they kept shooting, but we were strong, they took their final shot, Steffen rushed for the ball, but it skimmed just under his hockey stick and it was over. Feeling devistated we shook hands, we came 4th in the whole thing but came 2nd in the shield. We lined up and got SILVER MEDALS.
We all left feeling tired but very proud of ourselves.
