Earlier in 2020, the children asked if we could get a school wellbeing therapy dog.
A member of the CALM therapy room took this on as a project. He asked each class to vote for this. Excel was learnt and used effectively to produce graphs to show results. The vote was an overwhelming yes. A presentation for the governors and Mrs Williams was completed and they all were overwhelmed by the passion the children had for the project, it was of course as big YES!
We had our first visit from Daniel the Spaniel and Jorgie the Labrador in July. They have also visited families during Lockdown. Everyone has been just so excited to meet them. Ali (PSA) is their mum and brings one of two new puppies in regularly to help any of our children who are a little unsettled (that was especially helpful in September). Ali trains dogs outside of school, so we are in very safe hands. I couldn't believe at 8 weeks old, Daniel knew his name, came to me and sat.
Keep an eye on Daniel's Diary and Jorgie's Journal which are regularly in the newsletter. They share what they have been doing, learning about and generally what they are up to. Here is an idea of what they have been doing.
