Design Technology EYFS

Design Technology lies mainly within the specific aspect of 'Expressive Arts and Design' but makes an important contribution to children's development in all seven areas of learning. When designing and making products within EYFS children think about the user e.g. a cape for superman, the purpose e.g. sandwiches for a party; and the function e.g. a wall strong and stable enough for Humpty Dumpty and lastly aesthetics e.g. decorations on a bag. Design technology features in our everyday practice within continuous provision but we also have more planned/adult led opportunities and experiences such as making products for the Christmas fair.
