Mapping Workshop

On 22 March Year 2 took part in a Mapping Workshop in the school grounds with Mr Hall. Mr Hall made a map of an island on the playground with ropes and used children to mark important places on the island. He showed us how to use the compass directions to move around the map.

Then he set Year 2 a challenge – to use a map to find flags he had placed in our outside area. The children had great fun following the map and looking carefully to find them.

Lakenham Way

As we cannot take pupils on school trips at the moment, we have to bring the trips to the pupils! This is exactly what Year 2 did this when Mrs Winkworth Zoomed into the Year 2 classrooms as she rode down Lakenham Way on her bike. She stopped to discuss some of the interesting human and physical features with Year 2 back in their classes. These gave some useful clues into Lakenham's history.....
