I have uploaded work for today.

# Maths is the CGP test as normal.
# The CGP test for reading is slightly different, I would like you to look up vocab in the poem that you are unsure of before beginning the test - you could write out what they mean on the poem page to help you.
# The CGP test for grammar, punctuation and spelling is also different. I have uploaded an audio file for you to listen to as it is a spelling test. Take your time over it, if I have gone too quick, listen to it a second time.

Try and keep up to date with Journey to the River Sea. I am uploading a chapter a day.

Some of you are saying that you still have other things to finish. I won't set you anything else today so that you have a chance to get up to date:

~ Rio research (due Monday)
~ CRASH! stories (due Monday)
~ Water cycle (due Monday)
~ Rockstar timestables (some each day)
~ Mathletics (some each day)
~ Listen to Journey to the River Sea (listen to a chapter each day)
~ Plant diary (ongoing)
~ Darwin diary (due Wednesday)

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, if you can, upload your work in the CLASSWORK tab and mark it as finished. This really helps me to keep organised. I struggle to find your work if you past if on the stream!

Good morning.

How are you all today?

Today's work, which will start appearing at 9 am, comprises a guide reading activity, which is a poem and some short questions. Do these in your orange book and I will post the answers at the end of the day.

A maths lesson - this is lesson 3 on the ratio lesson, where you are introduced to the ratio symbol.

I am not setting any CGP tests today, this could give you a chance to catch up on any you haven't done this week, also many of you have your story to finish (I assume you will have started it!). There may also be other activities that you have not completed, so this is an opportunity to do these. There is also mathletics and TTRS.

At lunchtime, another project will be uploaded.
If you have completed everything, so far then do look at Mrs Twani's post for ideas of additional things you could do.

I look forward to hearing about your progress throughout the day, and reading some more stories.

Mrs Hall

For 6N only:

Science

Some of you have been saying that you have seen your sunflowers beginning to grow. For those of you who were in on the last day, we planted some sunflower seeds so we could watch them grow. If you were not at school, do you have any seeds at home that you could plant and join in with?

A lot of you are saying you are beginning to see things happen to them so now is a good time to start our diaries!

Begin your plant diaries. You could do this on a slide show - take a picture and write about it each day on a slide? You could do this on a word document. If you have access to a computer - do it on there and you can share it with me. If you do not take photos of what you have done and upload them to you assignment.

There is no due date for this - it is an ongoing project. I look forward to seeing all of your sunflowers grow!

PE

Remember, Joe Wicks does a daily PE lesson at 9.00am - I'm now off to get ready for it!

Overview

All children have been sent home with a learning pack to continue their learning whilst at home. In each pack there is a range of English, Maths and Reading activities, as well as some resources.

If your child would like to extend their own learning and create their own activity then that would be great as well; we have discussed a range of these activities with your children and they should be aware of what to do.

As teachers, we will set your children activities each morning to be completed. This will be to ensure that their learning continues and they still continue to make good progress; we appreciate your support with this. These activities will be posted on the website and on Google classroom; your children have been taught how to use this and an email link has been sent to them. Please note that Google classroom can be downloaded and used on all Apple and Android devices so all children should be able to view the tasks set. Children may choose to complete the work on the computer if they have access to a computer, or they can use the resources which we have sent home. If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

In school, Year 6 have discussed the importance of timetabling activities throughout the day to ensure that work is completed and learning stays on track (please see example timetable below). We have created our own timetables which we think will work best for us. Children may need some support with this to begin with and we appreciate your help with this. We believe that time on Rockstar Times Tables or Mathletics daily will benefit the children, as well as completing the task set by the teacher and taking control of their own learning through once of the resources below is a good start.
